Urban Fitness is Wellington's dedicated HYROX training and strength gym, based in Te Aro. We specialise in two things — building serious aerobic engines through HYROX-specific conditioning and building serious strength through Olympic weightlifting and ATHX training.
We've been coaching Wellington athletes for over 15 years, from complete beginners to HYROX World Championship competitors. If you want structured, progressive training with coaches who actually know their craft, you've found your gym.

Urban Fitness is a dedicated HYROX training and strength gym in Wellington, New Zealand. Based at 4 College Street, Te Aro, we offer coached classes six days a week across three core disciplines: HYROX-specific conditioning, Olympic weightlifting and ATHX training.
Our HYROX programme builds the aerobic engine, running capacity, and station-specific strength that race day demands. Our weightlifting and strength classes build real, lasting physical capability — not just fitness for fitness's sake.
We've been coaching Wellington athletes since 2009. Our members range from people who've never set foot in a gym to athletes who've qualified for the HYROX World Championships. What they share is a desire for structured, progressive training with coaches who know what they're doing.

Ten Years of Coaching Wellington Athletes
Urban Fitness has been coaching Wellington athletes since 2015. We do two things and we do them better than anyone else in the city — HYROX-specific conditioning and ATHX Games training. Not a bit of everything. Not random programming dressed up as fitness. Two disciplines, done properly, every single week.
Our members range from 16 to 68. Some have never trained seriously before. Others are competing at HYROX World Championship level. What they have in common is they stopped settling for average and started training with purpose.
We're not for everyone. We're for people who want to get seriously strong and seriously fit — and who want to do it inside a community that actually gives a damn.

What is HYROX?
HYROX is a global fitness race combining 8km of running with eight functional workout stations — rowing, ski erg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, kettlebell farmers carry, sandbag lunges, and wall balls. It's designed for everyday athletes and has categories from Open through to Pro.
Where is Urban Fitness located?
We're current based at 4 College Street, Te Aro, Wellington. Open seven days a week for classes and open gym.
How long before I'm ready to compete in HYROX?
It depends on your starting point, but most people are race-ready within three to six months of consistent training. Some are ready sooner. We'll tell you honestly where you're at.
Do I need to be fit to join Urban Fitness?
No. We coach people at every level, from complete beginners to HYROX World Championship competitors. If you can show up consistently and follow coaching, we'll do the rest.
What classes do you offer?
We offer HYROX-specific conditioning classes, Olympic weightlifting, strength and ATHX Games training and team training sessions. Classes run six days a week at our Wellington gym.
How much does membership cost?
Weekly membership is $70 per week, which includes unlimited coached classes and open gym access seven days a week. We also offer a 7-day trial for $70 and a 6-week challenge for $497. As well as 5x ($150) and 10x ($220) trip passes.
Do you offer student pricing?

What makes Urban Fitness different from other Wellington gyms?
We specialise. Most gyms offer a bit of everything. We focus entirely on HYROX training and strength — and we've been doing it for over ten years. Our coaches compete at the same level they coach, including HYROX World Championship level.
What is a HYROX simulation?
A HYROX simulation replicates as close as possible, the full race experience — running and all eight workout stations — in a controlled gym environment. We run full and half simulations at Urban Fitness so athletes can practise pacing, transitions and race strategy before race day. Open to members and non-members.
